This course is for anyone who’d like to improve their English language skills whilst learning about the culture and people of the UK.
It includes 15 hours of classroom-based English studies, and 10 hours off campus exploring the city, experiencing the culture and applying new skills.
On this course you’ll spend time with your language tutor, building your skills and confidence in listening, reading, speaking and writing.
You’ll take part in interactive workshops, and there’ll be plenty of fun opportunities for practising your skills on campus, as well as exploring the city and it’s attractions.
What will I gain?
By the end of the course you’ll have built confidence in verbal, visual and written communication.

Tutor Profile: Sofia Al-Ahmed is experienced in teaching English as a second language (TESOL); helping international students with functional and survival English skills.
Sofia has taught English in schools using listening, speaking, writing and reading alongside social and cultural knowledge to expand students’ language and confidence.
Sofia also has a postgraduate degree in English from Nottingham Trent University and a Diploma in English Language Teaching from De Montfort University.
Alongside teaching English, Sofia is a creative writer, having written fictional children’s novels and a series of animations and cartoons.
Sofia can speak two languages including English at the highest level, and Arabic.

You can book a self-catered, single room with private bathroom on our city campus, right next door to our studios and classrooms. If you're aged 16 or 17 then you can stay unaccompanied with agreement from a parent/guardian. If you're aged 15 then you can stay as long as you are accompanied by a parent/guardian.

What you'll study
During the course you will:
- complete engaging exercises set by an expert tutor
- interact with new people of differing backgrounds
- expand your knowledge of vocabulary and grammar
- research a group project on a subject of special interest
- present the project to fellow students.
Entry requirements
Level: Beginner
