This two-hour online workshop will introduce you to writing effective dialogue for your creative writing; whilst ensuring realism and its necessity to the plot.

It’s aimed at anyone interested in creative writing, whether you have done any previous writing before or are a complete beginner.


What will I gain?

By the end of the session you will have built confidence in your creative writing skills and ability to use dialogue, and have some new ideas to further pursue your writing.

Tutor Profile: Charlotte Baker is an author and an associate lecturer and PhD student at the University of Derby.

She has an interest in horror, identification, true crime and fandom.

Charlotte has over thirty fictional and nonfictional publications.

What you'll study

During the course you will:

  • consider how your dialogue ensures each character has their own voice
  • discuss how to keep the dialogue and narrative moving forwards
  • complete writing tasks from prompts
  • gain feedback on your writing style.
