Frankenstein’s monster, Hannibal Lecter, Count Dracula... everyone knows their names and stories.
This online short course delivered via Zoom will walk you through a mini history of the monster in horror writing, before you create your own monster legend.
The day is comprised of short lectures, group discussions and practical writing exercises.
It's is open to beginners as well as people with some writing experience looking for inspiration.
What will I gain?
You’ll leave this course with a short piece of creative horror writing that can be a great starting point for further development.
You’ll also have the knowledge of what to do with your text, and where best to get published.
Tutor profile: C J R Baker has published a series of novellas as well as thirteen short stories and articles.
She has an MA in Horror and Transgression, has begun her PhD related to this genre, and teaches on film production degree course at the University of Derby.

- examine previous monsters and the impact they’ve had on the genre and industry
- understand the use of a monster from a marketing angle
- create a monster with a back story
- gain feedback on a short piece of your own.
