“The Wildlife Conservation course takes a holistic approach to tackling current and future problems faced by wildlife. It incorporates many topics such animal behaviour and law, all of which help you gain a clear understanding of the complexities of the subject.
“I really enjoyed the Ecology, Animal Behaviour and Practical Skills modules. The science based modules were well designed, presented and provided the wealth of knowledge necessary for understanding the subject at a deeper level.
“The Practical Skills module was both fun and resourceful, ensuring that we learnt the skills required by most jobs in the conservation sector. I also found the course went at the right pace- it wasn’t too overwhelming but did encourage me to push my boundaries and improve on personal goals.
“This course is really engaging. It educates you in the complex ways in which wildlife is under threat, and provides you with the understanding and knowledge necessary to be able to tackle them. It also provides you with the experience and employment skills needed to get your foot in the door.
“As part of the Industry Placement module I worked 100 hours with my local Wildlife Trust, which helped me break personal boundaries as well as give me the chance to enhance the skills I’d learnt on the course. My confidence increased, and I was able to pick up new tricks along the way.
“Being a student at NTU is fun and eye-opening. You meet so many new people and there are loads of societies and fun things to fill your spare time. Equally, it’s really easy to just relax and enjoy the scenery, especially at Brackenhurst.
“I didn’t know much about Nottingham before arriving, but settling in was easier than I expected. The Brackenhurst Campus is an easy and safe place to live with all the facilities I needed to get the most out of student life. The city is also only a bus ride away.
“Within two weeks I had already got to know my flat mates and had formed a firm group of friends on my course who I will probably stay in contact with for the rest of my life. The way Brackenhurst Campus is designed makes socialising really easy and laid back.”
