More about Lexie

The course involves all different aspects of agriculture such as livestock, arable, environmental and machinery. The course tutors are very helpful when it comes to asking questions about work or how to enter the industry. Some of the tutors have come out of the industry, which makes what they are teaching you more current and they have in depth knowledge in their specialised area.

I liked the idea of how much work experience you get within the course - you have to gain 300 hours of experience on a farm of your choice. We are spending two weeks working on a dairy farm to gain practical skills working in the dairy industry.

I chose Brackenhurst as my first choice because of the facilities on the farm and that we get to run lambing and get involved with the cattle. It didn't take long to settle in here as everyone is really helpful and kind and I also belong to the Brackenhurst Young Farmers Club.

It is a great course. You gain a huge amount of experience and knowledge. The course makes you employable, and as you learn about most aspects of agriculture, you will find which area of the industry you want to go into. I intend to become an agronomist, the course has really helped me to decide this is the right career for me.
