The ability to connect with fellow animal lovers from all different backgrounds (not just veterinary professionals) not only allows me to meet new friends, but also to open up more opportunities within the veterinary field.

More about Tawny

"I began my studies in 2013, following through to graduation in 2016. The course (FdSc Veterinary Nursing) was excellently structured with the practical sessions simulating a working veterinary practice with great accuracy. The staff are very knowledgeable, all having worked in veterinary practice and understanding the stressors and culture that new students should expect to work within. I found that learning the theory behind tasks and skills first, helped me to apply them with much more confidence within veterinary practice."

"I then studied this course (BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing Top-up) part time between 2018 and 2020, via distance learning. I found the course modules to be extremely relevant to veterinary practice today. The ability to study via distance learning allowed me the flexibility required to study part-time whilst working full time within a busy veterinary practice. The course offered me the opportunity to connect with other veterinary professionals at referral practices and even zoological institutions."

"I am currently studying towards an MSc in Endangered Species Recovery and Conservation. The ability to connect with fellow animal lovers from all different backgrounds (not just veterinary professionals) not only allows me to meet new friends, but also to open up more opportunities within the veterinary field. I would love to be able to work as a veterinary nurse within a conservation setting (e.g. a conservation centre) either here in the UK or overseas."

"The most important thing you can bring to the table is experience! Expect to spend a lot of time watching, listening and learning both prior to, and during your studies. Working within the veterinary field is challenging but rewarding. My top tip would be to gain experience in all kinds of animal settings, from a veterinary practice, to a dog groomers to a working farm."
