What did you enjoy most about your course at NTU?
“The thing I enjoyed most was the course content. Lecture and seminar time is rich with information that you can build on with your own reading and learning. I found it intellectually stimulating and it gave me a realistic picture of what a building surveyor does for a living once qualified. The lecturers and staff are engaging and always willing to answer questions. The professional experience of the lecturers is very helpful, because they are able to provide real-life examples.
“One of the biggest advantages with the course was being able to undertake an internship and report, instead of a dissertation. This meant I could gain experience while studying, and the placement led to a part-time job with the same organisation, National Trust. This experience has definitely contributed to my being able to learn my new role quickly and support my team.
How did you find the course staff?
“The course staff are great. Everyone genuinely wants the students to succeed. The lecturers have a passion for their subject that shines through, making lectures interesting and challenging. The whole team has a willingness to share experience, information and give time where it is needed to make a very positive learning environment.

What is your current role and what does it involve?
“I am currently employed by Historic Royal Palaces as an Intern Project Surveyor. While being supported by experienced surveyors, I am assisting on major projects and project managing my own smaller projects. Projects include conservation works, refurbishments and inspections of the palaces. I’m learning a huge amount but I’m also happy to find the course has prepared me well for the role.”
