More about Charlotte
Placement company: Dalziel and Pow (London)
“Having looked around several Universities, it was clear to me that studying BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design at NTU was definitely the correct decision for me. I would advise that prospective students look closely at module specifications, placement opportunities and graduate prospects.
“A different guest speaker is available every week to offer their expertise within different areas of architecture and design. The most recent presentation was delivered by Dr. Tim Martin, who discussed the relationship between ‘Architecture and Psychoanalysis’, which I found both inspiring and informative.
What have you enjoyed most about your course?
“There are so many opportunities to be creative and explore many directions within each module of the course. NTU further enhances your knowledge and understanding by offering a placement year which provides you with invaluable experience within the industry.
“During my second year, we were involved in two live projects. One of the projects involved Greenshoots organisation who briefed and allowed us access towards multiple site visits which gave us an insight into current problems with the building and future possibilities for development.
How did you spend your placement year?
“I completed a year’s work placement at Dalziel and Pow who are a leading independent design agency based in London. Working on projects from start to completion enabled me to successfully go through all the stages of design and gain confidence within every area. By being involved in projects, I was able to input my design ideas and see them develop into reality.
“Working at Dalziel and Pow, and having work to show from the initial design development, 3D visualisation and the output of the finished stores, provided me with strong work to add to my portfolio which I felt confident adding towards my future employability.”
