Placement company: McDonald's
"I would highly recommend my course for anyone who is looking to pursue a career in surveying. I, along with my peers, have been successful gaining graduate positions in various roles - I think this is down to the skills and knowledge that the course allows students to develop. The course requires a variety of skills and disciplines which are assessed in a way that prepares students for real-life working situations. I particularly enjoyed the design and master-planning element of the final year project.
What have you enjoyed most about your course?
"There were various guest speakers from industry which really helped to put the projects we were working on in to context. Some of the final year projects and presentations were assessed by industry professionals –this was good preparation for the real world. The lecturers and tutors were supportive not only with the course but also with providing advice for graduate employment – this included introducing students to industry contacts, as well as providing information for useful industry events.
"We were also taken to Barcelona as part of our second year project – this was a really interesting project which allowed students to explore and understand the development of an international city - it was also lots of fun!

"I completed a work placement in the acquisitions team for McDonald's at the head office in London. During my time there I was given opportunity to travel around the UK visiting potential new sites. The skills and experience I gained during this time helped me gain my role as an acquisitions surveyor at Sainsbury’s following university."
"I was pleased to be awarded with the Savills award for my final year work – there were numerous awards, including cash prizes, given out by industry professionals on different projects throughout the course. This was a real highlight and helped to keep everyone focused, motivated - and a little competitive - to do well."
