What have you enjoyed most about your course?
“BSc (Hons) Real Estate is a very practical course with the content being focused towards what’s going on in the property world. The opportunity for a placement year was extremely useful. It's something that many competitor universities do not offer. There are lots of opportunities to engage with other students on the course, this helps you know everyone on the course very well. We also had a trip overseas which was to Vienna where learnt all about a new property market which was great fun.
“I have enjoyed my time at NTU so far and I feel it has given me a great foundation for me to build my career upon. It has given me the opportunity to live in a city rather than a campus with the chance to take a placement year. A BSc (Hons) Real Estate degree from NTU is well respected in the property world as well, so overall I would highly recommend it.
How did you spend your placement year?
“I completed my placement year for a firm called Gerald Eve LLP. I worked in the Office Lease Consultancy department that were based by St Paul’s cathedral in London. I assisted with valuation and strategy reports for properties mainly in Mayfair, Belgravia and Soho. I enjoyed my time with the company and it has really helped my development and made me realise that all I have learnt at university is relatable. The placement will help me complete my final year of study and I have been offered a graduate position at the firm once I finish.
“I feel the year has let me ease into the business environment rather than having a shock of going from a university lifestyle to a business environment and being expected to perform at a higher level. I acquired my placement through the university employability team who find and advertise placement positions onto a web portal making the application process much more simple.”
