More about Cassius
Why did you choose NTU and your course?
I chose NTU due to the vast post-degree employment programmes they have available. Additionally, Nottingham has a thriving nightlife industry which I thought would be great for hosting live events.
I chose event management due to having a passion for managing teams and attending both smaller scale and larger scale events, with the hope to one day manage my own large-scale festival. Event management is a perfect balance between structured learning and more experience-based learning giving you the opportunity to get real life experience alongside a degree.
What was your favourite thing about studying in the School of Art & Design?
The best part of studying in this area was having creative control over your own work and ultimately being able to shape your own degree in whatever way you want.
What do you think of the course facilities? How do they compare to your work in industry?
The course has an extensive range of facilities available for students. We have access to specialist equipment for our own events in collaboration with other courses such as tech related courses.
Did you get a chance to work on any live projects or competitions during your studies? What was this experience like?
During my studies I worked on multiple live projects both inside and outside of university. I worked on four with my class which gave me a wide range of experience in marketing, ticketing, security and general event management. I also ran my own event brand, hosting nine events, giving me experience in booking artists, speaking with agents, producing marketing materials, creating and following budgets, and managing a team.
What would be your advice to current students?
Always take opportunities that come your way. The course offers a huge range of work experience and networking which is critical within events. Additionally, work on building your own brand from the get-go. Think carefully about what you want to do and continue your development through university.
