What do you enjoy most about your course at NTU?
"It’s intellectually stimulating, well-organised and there is lots of support."
What do you think about the course staff – include lecturers, tutors, administrators and technical staff within this. How do they support your learning and University experience?
"They are all supportive, experts in their fields and encourage further learning."
Could you please explain more about your year abroad, and what you did during this time?
"I spent 4 months on a placement in Lima, Peru. I produced analytical reports on political, economic and social issues arising in Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. Apart from office work, I have also completed tasks outside the embassy, meeting with stranded citizens under grave circumstances, helping to organise cultural events and attending conferences. Before the placement I spent another 4 months in Santiago de Chile at Universidad Chileno Britanica de Cultura."
How did you go about attaining this placement?
"I researched deeply into a number of different companies, institutions and organisations. I mostly used the internet, I would visit each website and investigate further into student placements, if necessary email to ask if such opportunity is possible."
What was the most interesting / enjoyable aspect of your year abroad and why?
"Growing as an adult and a human being, learning new skills and being encompassed by a different culture and environment. I believe that using what I have learnt I can now achieve anything I set my mind to, that includes a desired career or any other aspect of life."
How will these skills enhance your employability for your chosen career?
"I feel like I will be an interesting candidate as I have shown I can adapt my skills and I'm able to work in a difficult environment, which is a good base to start in any industry."
How do you feel you’ve developed as a person during your year abroad?
"I think the year abroad set a solid foundation for me as a young adult, It’s made me believe that I can achieve something significant in life."
