My ambition is to continue to write and to put my love of literature to good use in HE.
More about Rebecca
I grew up in Beeston and graduated with a 2.1 in English Literature from the University of Sheffield in 1990.
I had careers as a teacher, and at the Department for Work and Pensions. After applying for voluntary
redundancy I re-entered higher education and came to NTU in 2012 as a Masters student, and graduated
with a distinction in 2013.
Somewhere in the middle I had two children, who are now aged 10 and 15.
During my PhD project, which explores the relationship between poetry and time, I have developed Creative
Writing workshops for community groups. I have been awarded additional funding for a six-month placement
as Poet-in-Residence at Newstead Abbey.
I have also been awarded the inaugural Midlands3Cities Public Engagement Award.
My ambition is to continue to write and to put my love of literature to good use in HE.
