More about Steve
"I wanted to gain a broad overview of the heritage and museum world, with an emphasis on management; a friend told me about the course and I found it fitted the bill.
"I particularly enjoyed the visits and group discussions and developed so many different skills through the degree. These all helped when applying for jobs, especially the skills of setting up an exhibition and those gained from my work placement at the Galleries of Justice, Nottingham and the Nottingham Castle Museum.
"On graduating, I began my career as Community Heritage Officer at Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, and have since worked my way up to a senior management position working for various organisations within the heritage sector.
"I am now CEO of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust. This involves managing staff, managing budgets and leading the organisation.
"In my working life, I enjoy seeing a fantastic team working brilliantly together and achieving results far in excess of anything that might be dreamed of. I hope I will always enjoy my work as much as I do now. My advice to current students is to be passionate about what you want to do and to not be afraid to share that passion with others: enthusiasm is infectious."
