More about Tom

"This was the most challenging, enjoyable and rewarding course I've ever done. The variety of styles you cover ensures that you come out of it prepared to tackle any kind of writing. The support from staff was great and getting hands-on feedback, sometimes brutally honest, helped me to hone my skills. The main benefit is that you finish the academic year employable – the skills transfer to many areas, even if they're not directly journalistic.

"During the course I freelanced for the Nottingham Post, Nottingham Lions ice hockey, Trail Running Magazine and GoThinkBig. This gave me a rounded portfolio and was crucial in securing my current job as an Educational Editorial Consultant, only a month after I finished the course. The sub-editing and concise writing skills I learned from the course have given me a sharp eye for detail, which made me stand out over the 50 other candidates for the position! I suggested improvements to their training materials and have been teaching my boss a few tricks!

"I still freelance and am a finalist in the GMA Games Academy 2013 which wouldn't have been possible without the course."
