More about Alex
"My application process very straightforward, with help from NBS Exchange I looked through a list of NTU partner institutions and narrowed them down to universities in Sweden, Germany, and South Korea. The application process to these universities was simple and was mostly handled by the university. I also made use of the Employability team to update and review my CV.
I received incredibly helpful and timely support from NBS, during my 10 months in Sweden. I was given constant email support from NBS Exchange, assistance from my course leader and professors about exams overseas, and relevant supplementary course information. An NTU professor visited me 5 months in to my placement to meet with the partner institution, as I was one of the first from NTU to study at this university.
The overall experience was incredible; it was refreshing to learn different topics from a completely different perspective; to learn and utilise daily, a completely new language; to meet and make many new friends and experiences from travelling; as well as increasing employment prospects due to new skills gained and experience with new software/topics/interpersonal/leadership/etc. It was through-and-through a great year that I would whole-heartedly recommend, the amount of personal development and additional qualifications gained is undoubtedly marketable, and will hopefully have positive implications on my future career, whether that be domestically or internationally.
Almost everything I had previous learned was utilised and built upon at the placement. There was noticeably different perspectives to some parts of the curriculum as compared to a more UK centric view, which is great from an international academic perspective.
My advice to students considering a international opportunities, would be to have a look at both placements and study abroad, as both have great potential to increase your development and employability. Make the most of your time at NTU whilst still being forward thinking about your future."
