“I chose Nottingham Business School (NBS) as it has come highly recommended and has a great reputation. A colleague who had been on this course recommended it to me and my sister had previously studied at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). I had a lot of communication with various teams in the university as I had a lot of questions about finances and payment plans and how it would all fit in to my day-to-day life. Every member of the team I had spoken to previously were extremely helpful and understanding and always tried their best to help me. I have always wanted to work in Human Resources, but without a CIPD qualification it's extremely difficult to get on that first step of the career ladder. This is a great first step and gives you a great insight to what the world of HR is really like academically.
“I thoroughly enjoyed studying this course as the lecturers are very supportive and are very passionate about their subjects. They have tonnes of real-life examples and scenarios, which really helps, put things in to perspective. As a group I think we got lucky as we all have a great bond together and are comfortable working with each other throughout different tasks and assignments. What sets NBS apart from other business schools is care. Every person who I have encountered whilst studying at NTU is nothing short of caring. No question is too silly, no email goes unanswered and nothing is too much to ask of them. If they can help, they'll do it. For me, this is without a doubt the greatest part of NTU. I'm not sure you'd get the same anywhere else. Without a doubt I would you recommend studying at Nottingham Business School to anyone.
“NBS in itself is seen to be prestigious and is an eye-catcher in itself on a CV, but aside from this I am confident that although I am a student, I have now begun a fantastic network of HR Professionals whilst studying at NTU which I otherwise would not have been able to do. After the course has finished that is not the end, the staff and other students will always be there for each other and will be a continuous support to each other, which I don't think you'll manage to get anywhere else.
“I believe studying this course has already opened up doors for me as I am now working to support a HR team within the NHS. My plans are to keep supporting and working my way slowly up the ladder and hopefully become ready to expand my knowledge and learning experiences by coming back to Nottingham Business School to enrol on to the Postgraduate course, perhaps Masters! NTU has given me the confidence and helped me realise that I can do it if I really want it and am willing to work for it.
“I worked (and still do) full-time whilst studying. My job entails administrative support for the Human Resources and Organisational Development teams. I have received brilliant support from my current and previous employers. My previous employer funded half of my tuition fees and I was also allocated Study Leave days towards my study time. My current employer also agreed to allocate me the remaining study leave days so I was able to attend the days at university. Both organisations have been extremely supportive with assignments (including providing me with data and policies to work with).
“I tried to manage my time as best as I could, but if I'm honest I could have been better at keeping to the plan! I tried to allocate 1 weekend day and / or some evenings after work to work on my assignments. Any employee going on any course instantly benefits the employer and their organisation. Courses give their employees great insight and skills in an area which others may not and is a great opportunity not to be missed either by the employee or employer. I now have HR knowledge and skills that I believe is a benefit to my organisation, if not myself.”
