NBS helped me secure a placement year within the HR department of a large multinational company.
More about Jessica
“I fell in love with NTU and the city of Nottingham when I attended an open day. Coming from a small town, I loved the lively atmosphere. The excellent reputation of the Business School was an important factor as well!
“The course is a mixture of management and human resources module, intended to teach the skills necessary for future management positions. I love psychology and therefore found the HR modules mentally stimulating.
“I’ve undertaken a lot of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, totalling over 60 hours in my final year. I originally attended these to improve my employability but found that many of the available opportunities really taught me a lot about myself and what I want in life and from my career. I particularly enjoyed my volunteering activities, which I found very rewarding and really helped me develop the people skills necessary to succeed within the field of HR.
“NBS has provided me with great academic and personal support throughout my time at university. I’ve received support with my student finance application and emotional support from Student Services, who are great if you need someone to chat to and provide great information about what help and support is available to you. The Employability Team offer support workshops, as well as one-to-one meetings regarding placements and career progressions. The advice given in finding and securing a placement was amazing! The tutors within NBS are very approachable and supportive; all you need to do is ask them!
“I joined NBS with no career path and no work experience, just knowing that I had a strong interest in business and psychology. NBS helped me secure a placement year within the HR department of a large multinational company. I worked there part-time alongside my final year studies and have been asked to apply for a HR Trainee role, which would involve undergoing two years of training to progress towards becoming a HR Business Partner.
“My advice would be to come along to the open days and see if you can picture yourself here. If you do choose to study here, which I would fully recommend, make sure you enjoy the city. Visit new places, meet new people and make the most of your time here. Coming to the end of my four years at NBS, I can confirm that the time just flies by so make every moment count!”
