NBS provides an excellent environment for learning and development in both academic and professional qualities.
More about Jonathan
“I've enjoyed studying the variety of modules the course offers, developing a breadth of understanding across different functions. This has allowed me to take an analytical approach when evaluating businesses and operations using different perspectives. There's a great range of learning resources provided by the Business School with membership access to many professional bodies such as the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). The different formats of assessment have challenged my weaker areas and enabled me to develop these into key graduate attributes.
“NBS provides an excellent environment for learning and development in both academic and professional qualities. The quality of teaching and professional work experience of staff has been highly valuable, applying real world examples and cases with theory taught.
“My studies at NBS will give a valuable foundation of theoretical awareness and understanding, developing an analytical mindset and key competencies that are required in the job market. I will be able take this toolbox of professional development qualities and graduate attributes acquired into future opportunities and build on these further. The academic and analytical mindset I have developed will help me solve future business challenges and personal career goals.
“Working with likeminded students in seminar groups has helped me gain valuable experience in effective team working and leadership, with a mixture of activities including; small group work, debates around topics and creativity in project work and presentations. The staff at NBS have supported my academic learning and encouraged me to challenge and stretch myself. Theory taught has been complimented with application of examples and real world experience, growing my commercial awareness and appreciation of operations.
“Whilst I have furthered my academic knowledge through the course programme and resources such as the CMI, I have also benefited from applying this learning on work placements such as a summer placement with Sky and my industrial work placement with Unilever. The sandwich year (industrial placement) gives you real world experience and allows the opportunity to apply learning in practise. If you have the opportunity to do a work placement, you should jump at the chance and identify the practical examples you have of transferable skills for your CV and finding the next opportunity.”
