What made you decide to do a Masters degree?
I choose to study MSc Project Management degree to further develop my knowledge and skill sets in project management. I also wanted to get familiarised with the theories and concepts taught at the masters level before entering the world of work.

Why did you choose Nottingham Business School?
As I am a former student of Nottingham Trent University, I really enjoyed my experience here and wanted to continue with my development. The key factors influencing my decisions were the placement opportunities, as I wish to gain experience putting theory into practice. As a returning student, I also benefited from the automatic alumni discount of 25%. I also looked at the other universities in Coventry, Aston and Warwick but NBS was a perfect fit for my requirements.

What do you feel is the best aspect about studying at Nottingham Business School?
The best aspect according to me is the supportive and the professional staff because they focus on getting the best out of us during our time here. There numerous resources available for us like workshops, one–to–one tutor meetings and talks from the business experts that allowed me to develop personally and professionally.

Can you explain a little about your course? What do you enjoy?
The course modules are well structured and focuses on one thing at a time. We have lectures and workshops for each module that goes on for about three weeks. In the fourth week, we have to submit the assessment for that particular module which could be an essay or presentation.

We also have Project Management Professionals coming to our university to share their experiences about what is been expected while working in the project management fields for different businesses. These talks have enabled me to have a much clearer idea about my future career and have allowed me to network on a professional level.

What key skills you have developed during studying?
I have developed the critical thinking and management skills. I have learnt to closely examine reasoning and assumptions by analysing basic concepts and make decisions according. The course has enabled me to become more organised and manage my time more effectively. The CPD events have contributed greatly to develop these skills. The Placement year option has given me an opportunity to increase my chances of a better degree classification.

How does Nottingham Business School provide you with support, advice and guidance?
I have always received support from the staff and the tutors of the university. I feel the Link Lounge and the Student Support Service is extremely important because it allows me to drop in and access information or help with specific matters at any time.

What do you think about Nottingham as a city for students?
Nottingham is a great student city. There are lots of pubs and local places to spend time with your friends and classmates. The city has great food places, clubs and historic places to offer. Nottingham is well known for having a diverse population and students from all over the world.

How has the master’s degree differed from your undergraduate experience?
My course has taught me to be more independent in terms of research methodology than my undergraduate experience. I am being encouraged to do additional research myself apart from the study materials provided by the university. The classes are very engaging and keeps you on toes at all times. The knowledge gained, the concepts learnt are much more detailed and critical thinking is encouraged for every module.

How has the course influenced your future plans or career aspirations?
My degree allows me the flexibility in my career prospects. I will be able to gain skills that are transferable across different industrial sectors. I have been equipped with all the necessary skills and knowledge to design, plan and execute projects successfully in my future Project Management Role.

What advice would you give to students considering studying at Nottingham Business School?
I would advise them to have a growth mind set to get the most of your course by making the maximum use the resources available. Apart from the course, I would also suggest to enjoy the student life as it plays a vital role in the university experience.
