More about Hannah
We currently don't offer this course anymore. We do however offer a range of other undergraduate Education courses.
How did you enter into Clearing?
I had essentially taken two gap years. It was in June that I decided I definitely wanting to go to university the following September, so I applied through clearing. NTU was the only place I really wanted to go.
Why did you choose to apply to NTU?
I wanted to be away from home but close enough that I could easily visit. Nottingham seemed like the perfect city for me and I had heard a lot of amazing things about NTU. It has a brilliant reputation for its Education department, which was important to me.
Can you tell us in a short paragraph or two what you experienced during the Clearing process?
I had researched extensively and chosen NTU before clearing opened, so I was happy to see the course I wanted in my clearing search. I called the clearing hotline and the person on the other end of the line was friendly and made it really easy and straightforward. I was initially apprehensive and a little bit anxious as NTU was the only place I wanted to go to but I was offered a place really quickly and within what felt like no time at all, I had a confirmed place.
How have you settled into your course and NTU?
I’ve made friends - both from my own course and from other courses - and joined societies. I feel really at home at NTU.
What do you like most about the course, and do you think you’ve made the right decision?
The discussion that takes place in our seminars is my favourite part of the course. I feel super involved in my learning. I also like the fact that the course is 100% coursework; this made it the perfect match for me.
What do you think about the course staff?
I’ve found that staff reply to my emails really promptly and this is especially comforting when in need of support, academic or otherwise.
What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?
It’s vibrant. There’s so much to do both day and night. It has a good music scene and a lot of culture.
In a nutshell, why would you recommend your course / NTU to someone looking to study in that area?
It’s specific enough to cater to your interests, but also broad enough to open your mind to other areas of study and maybe even careers. You get a lot of understanding of things you can use outside of your course. It’s current and applicable to the real world.
What advice would you give someone thinking about going through Clearing?
It’s not as scary as you might think. The hotline is super useful as the people on the other end are really supportive. You may even find that your plans change but sometimes that’s a good thing. It gives you a chance to think outside the box.
What are you most looking forward to in the two/three years at NTU?
I’m looking forward to doing my placement year and branching out. It will be good to be creative and move outside of my comfort zone.
