Naporn Popattanachai (Prompt) is a PhD Candidate at Nottingham Law School. He is currently doing a PhD on the protection of the marine environment from land-based activities.

In 2016, Prompt was awarded ITLOS/Nippon Fellowship at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg, Germany which enabled him to write parts of his thesis and a separate research paper on the potential role, contribution, and challenges of ITLOS in handling an environmental dispute from Regional Sea Programme. In addition, Prompt is a member of the faculty of law, Thammasat University, Thailand.

His research interests lie in the fields of international law of the sea, international environmental law, and general public international law. He is also a member of the Centre for Marine Ecological Resilience and Geological Resources (MERGeR).
