More about Abiye Yvonne

"My Biomedical Science degree helped me develop practical skills - mainly communication skills through report writing and oral presentations. My organisational skills, self-reliance and initiative were also developed; I learnt effective time management especially during my final year project and whilst revising for exams.

"I highly recommend this course as it combines practical as well as theoretical aspects of Biomedical Science which aided my understanding of the subject as a whole. The lectures were well taught and well structured.

"My course integrated a work experience placement at a local hospital during each academic year. I worked in the Haematology, Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology laboratories at the Queens Medical Centre, one of the Nottingham University Hospitals. This helped reinforce my desire to work in medical research.

"My degree certainly helped me focus my career plans - The modules I studied aided my understanding and widened my interests Cancer Biology, my chosen area of specialisation for the PhD I am currently studying here."
