More about Alice
"I spent my placement year as an Assistant Crime Scene Investigator for the car clinic facility at Nottinghamshire Police. After a training period myself and two other NTU students were in charge of the garage facility where the main responsibility was to forensically process vehicles which have been involved in crime.
"Employers provided support and guidance where needed and created a friendly environment so we felt like part of the team. We received police crime scene training from experienced CSIs, which will be extremely useful for the rest of my course and future careers.
"The responsibility of running the entire facility was a fantastic experience. I developed a variety of skills from communications, crime scene examinations to problem solving. Even just the experience of individual shift working was beneficial. I am particularly proud that the success of this year has resulted in the car clinic being open next year, which will take on more placement students.
"I have gained confidence from the placement which will help for future interviews and job roles. Overall I have become more motivated to pursue a career in Forensic Science and with the Police.
"The year seems to be over too quickly so if you are on a placement make sure you make the most of it! It is a fantastic opportunity to network, enhance you CV and develop your skills."
