More about Claire
"I am currently undertaking a major in Microbiology and minors in Organisation and Management, Social Psychology and Individual Differences.
"I chose to do a Multidisciplinary Master's (MDM) because it gave me the option to design my own bespoke master's degree that would fit my career aspirations more closely than a straight master's degree. I also believed it would allow me to stand out from the crowd in the job market as it is the first of its kind. The consultancy project has increased my ability to work as part of a team with a number of disciplines and deal with the challenges that come with it. I have also learnt how to communicate my discipline to others from different specialisms.
"My studies also included a placement. I am currently working full-time in a permanent position at Coldharbour Marine. I would like to move up to a position of responsibility and authority within the microbiological field, preferably into management.
"My MDM has not only increased my knowledge within my field but also given me the opportunity to study modules relating to business organisation and the understanding of people and social situations. This gives me a breadth of knowledge that others doing a straight MSc would not have.
"I have enjoyed learning new subjects and meeting a range of people that I would not have been able to if I had taken a straight Microbiology MSc."
