All companies look for experience and if you impress during your placement, you are in a great position to be offered a job come the end of it.
More about Danny
Work Placement: IT Administrator, Interfleet Technology
"Your course teaches you underlying knowledge; however putting this to use in a working environment is vital. All IT companies look for qualifications and experience so to add a year's work placement to my course was very helpful. The money wasn't bad either!
"My placement company was a railway consultancy, Interfleet Technology. In my job I provided IT Support to the UK, India and North America, varying from simple program installs to setting up new networks and WDS servers.
"During my placement I had the opportunity to travel to Vancouver to set up a Windows Deployment Server, help set up a new office and teach new users our system. This is something I had never done before and my managers showed lot of faith in me in selecting me for the job. Everything ended up going extremely smoothly. I completed the job earlier than expected, even adding customisation so it was virtually an automatic install.
"The city was great too and I met some very important people within the company. The whole experience was quite surreal.
"I have continued to work for Interfleet throughout my final year as an Associate and will be moving back to full-time work here at the end of my degree."
