More about Gary
Gary is currently a Devices and Materials Researcher...
"I was a mature student who came to Nottingham Trent University after studying at the Open University for several years.
"I am now a materials and devices researcher at Hewlett Packard laboratories after completing my PhD in Physics at NTU. I am responsible for carrying out research into new materials and technologies at Hewlett Packard. I design and conduct experiments to test and improve technology and potentially create new products.
"The highlights of my career include winning the Sharp SID Student of the year award in 2009 and part of my research has been published in the highly esteemed journal Nature Photonics.
"The BSc (Hons) Physics with Astrophysics course gave me much more than just academic skills. It showed me how to work with and learn from other people. It built my confidence and allowed me to think 'I Can'.
"I'm a native to Nottingham and I think it is the best place in the world. It has all the benefits of a major city and is very near to some of the best British countryside. You can city shop in the morning and country hike in the afternoon."
