More about Jake

I’ve always competed in sports and enjoyed studying mathematics at school, so being able to study sports science and mathematics on the same degree sounded like a great mix for me.

On the course, I’ve really enjoyed studying sports physiology, especially through practical labs. The statistical modules I’ve completed have helped me to analyse data from investigations in physiology.

Labs have been readily available throughout my time at NTU especially in my final year when completing my dissertation project. The equipment we use in these labs is the same as that used in industry and it’s great to get this insight into how to use it.

My greatest achievement so far has been balancing my sporting career in canoe slalom with my course commitments. I really value the support I get from NTU in being able to compete at a high level alongside my studies.

When I finish my degree, my plan is to train full time as a professional athlete in canoe slalom and strive towards competing at the Olympic Games.
