More about Nevril
Job title: Department Head - Process Improvement Facilitators
Employer: Douglas Pharmaceuticals, Auckland
I left Nottingham Trent with the hope of getting a job, I knew for sure that the knowledge I gained at NTU would not be wasted. However, I never dreamed that I would start my career in a multinational FMCG company like Unilever in the UK, and progress onto working for the largest pharmaceutical company in New Zealand.
Working for the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing company in New Zealand, I export medicines to more than 35 countries which is always challenging, especially keeping up to date with technology and regulatory compliance. I am involved in implementing new technology into the company, continuously improving processes and managing cross-functional projects.
Challenges are a part of life: effectively dealing with them is what makes you successful. I have been determined all along, worked extremely hard and never gave up.
How has your experience at Nottingham Trent helped you in your career?
The learning atmosphere was very congenial. I could go to my professors at any time and ask them for advice. The seminars, poster and oral presentations we did boosted my self-confidence. I now give presentations in my company without any second thought. I will never forget Dr Philip Bonner who motivated me in many aspects. The social life I had has helped me improve my networking skills and in-turn has assisted me in building successful networks all over the world.
How friendly and supportive an environment did you find Nottingham Trent?
NTU is one of the best universities I have come across. The staff and students are very friendly and always willing to help. Thank you for the support. I take back unforgettable memories with me. Long live Nottingham Trent!
What has been the highlight of your career or personal achievements to date?
Getting a job in one of the most prestigious companies to work for, even before I graduated.
What advice do you have for students and fellow graduates?
Take up a course that you are truly interested in, work hard and never quit. The courses at NTU are great especially since most of the knowledge and skills are transferable to various Industries. I started my career in an FMCG company and now work for a Pharmaceutical company.
