Before I came to university I wasn’t the greatest academic but thanks to the support I receive at NTU I’m now coming out with top class grades

More about Scott

"My course is Biological Sciences and I'm studying the ecology and environmental pathway. The course is very practically based. The lecturers are heavily involved in shaping the content based on their own specialisms. We have specialists in entomology and water biology so the lecturers really know what they're talking about.

"The course offers a good mix of lectures, practical work, lab work, field trips and residential trips. We have dedicated ecology labs with all the equipment you could conceivably need. I can book out lab desk space, use the greenhouse for plant studies and also use the interdisciplinary superlab.

"There are lots of practical skills you can take into jobs, such as surveying techniques and environmental assessment and while it's not compulsory to do a work placement, it is encouraged. I did a local placement in my second year and the skills I learned are invaluable. I've been offered a job for when I graduate and if I do apply for any other jobs I can say I've not just got a degree but work experience as well."
