More about Shane
"The content of this course looked challenging yet enjoyable, which really appealed to me. It was the right choice. I'm enjoying my time in the labs, developing practical skills, carrying out experiments and getting to know lecturers and other students.
"You cover a wide range of subjects, including organic, inorganic, physical, analytical and radio chemistry, but you're able to take it in at a steady pace and the lab equipment is excellent. If I have any questions the lecturers are more than willing to help too.
"During my time at NTU I've also worked as an alumni fundraiser, helping both current and future students. It was a good way to improve my communication skills, complementing the practical skills I've learned in the lab. I'm now a more confident person, willing to accept any challenge.
"When I graduate, I'm hoping to work in environmental science, with the aim of working in the US combating global warming. It's an area I'd never considered before my course but my modules have made me very interested in melting ice caps, glacial retreats and studying the atmosphere.
"All in all, I'd say this course has a good structure, a great student atmosphere and friendly staff. You get the opportunity to carry out research too, which is a fantastic experience for any Chemistry student."
