More about Dalia

“Attending NTU’s Open Day was my first visit to Nottingham and I was immediately attracted to the city and the University. The key features that attracted me to study BSc (Hons) Psychology at NTU were the various modules on offer. There was a good balance of subject topics that would allow me to shape my career decisions.

"I have particularly enjoyed the Statistics module. Initially I thought this would be very Maths orientated and I would really struggle, however, this has been my most successful module in my first and second year at NTU. It has introduced me to a completely new and advanced area of psychology and I now understand and appreciate the importance of analysing data in any context. I feel that my course is preparing me for my career as I am continuously learning new material and skills that can be applied to the world of work. The course has increased my confidence with presenting, communication skills, sticking to deadlines, organising my workload, writing and research skills and a more creative mind-set when approaching any task. Furthermore, my course is allowing me to take a placement year, which will provide me a valuable year of experience in industry.

“I have found the Employability support services extremely useful and supportive during my experiences at NTU. There are staff members happy to help every day that provide useful feedback and advice. There is also no pre-booking required which is very convenient. I have received assistance multiple times on my CV, cover letter and general advice. Moreover, I have recently signed up to a mentoring programme offered by the employability centre. I have had meetings with staff members to ensure I am paired with the most appropriate mentor. This is the perfect opportunity for me to receive guidance, advice and knowledge in a career that I may want to pursue. I have also been involved in the programmes offered by the employability team, for instance IoD and Grads4Notts. I am also a student buddy and I volunteer as a Marketing Assistant in a local business in Nottingham. These have all contributed to my university experience and have provided me with skills and experience of the business industry.

“NTU has allowed me to grow as an individual as I am more independent in my studies and social life. I have more confidence and experience due to the support NTU offer. In my first week I felt very welcomed by both the staff and the students. In addition, I loved my accommodation and settled in immediately. During the week I met multiple student reps, which made the week a lot more enjoyable and exciting. What I enjoy most about living in Nottingham is the convenience and accessibility of everything. The city centre has everything a student needs and the nightlife is great too.

“I highly recommend coming to study at NTU to any student who is considering it. You receive amazing support from the student services, employability team and your professors. NTU is the perfect platform for individuals to experience university, gain independence, make friends and start their journey towards a career.”
