"As a research assistant, I conduct developmental assessments for two year old children using the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Third Edition. These assessments are conducted in various hospitals and homes across the UK."

Typical day?
"My typical day involves travelling to different locations across the UK to conduct Bayley assessments."

Career developments?
"Graduating from NTU has been one of the major milestones of my career. MSc applied Child Psychology helped me secure a research assistantship at one of the top universities in the UK. Currently I am working as a research assistant at University College London.

"After the completion of my current employment in July 2015, I will start my PhD in Infant Language Development from Purdue University, USA."

"The biggest challenge after graduation has been living miles away from my family in India. I decided to accept this challenge to get first-hand research experience."

Your NTU experience?
"My master's degree at NTU has been very significant in honing my research skills with respect to various methods of data collection, research designs and data analysis software. Working in various research and educational environments has polished my time management and organisational skills during independent and group work. All these relevant experiences helped me grow as a researcher and more importantly as an individual, in my current job."

Advice for others?
"Advice to new graduates: Develop a career plan as early as you can. Once you do, you will find it much easier to decide on your next logical steps that would eventually lead you to your final goal."

How friendly and supportive an environment did you find Nottingham Trent?
"I received tremendous support from all the faculty members of MSc Applied Child Psychology. They were always accessible. Working with them has helped me to the best I can be. The faculty members also provided me with valuable guidance regarding getting a research job in the UK."

Career highlights?
"Securing a very competitive graduate position at Purdue University, USA has been my highest achievement to date."

Plans for the future?
"I plan to join Purdue University, USA in August 2015 to pursue my PhD in Infant Language Development."
