More about Helen
"Before I began the postgraduate course, I had heard that the MSc Forensic Psychology was one of the best courses in the country as it focuses largely on applied forensic practice. I also heard that NTU had great facilities including good quality lecture theatres, labs and computer facilities.
"I was lucky enough to be involved in a large body of research being conducted at HMP Whatton for my MSc. The research was related to a new pharmacological treatment programme the prison was piloting and the aim of the research was to evaluate how successful the treatment had been.
"I used qualitative methods to analyse my results and the findings revealed interesting and helpful recommendations for HMP Whatton which are to be used in a staff training day.
"My research was also presented to an international conference in Berlin along with another piece of research conducted by a research assistant at NTU. International practitioners in the field attended (including Don Grubin, a leading practitioner in the anti-libidinal research) and I received very positive feedback on the research we were conducting."
