More about Jessica
“I chose NTU because of the open and friendly atmosphere around campus, as well as the numerous opportunities that were on offer, such as the study abroad and placement schemes.
“Studying Psychology with Sociology here has been a wonderful experience. I have found that there is a lot of crossover between the two subjects and that studying both has allowed me to examine and approach problems in a different way.
“The staff within the School of Social Sciences are all really friendly and excellent teachers. You can tell they’re passionate about what they teach, which makes learning from them all the more enjoyable. There’s plenty of support available within the School – all the staff are approachable, and there is a team of dedicated support staff as well as online support available if you’re having problems.
“I took part in the Scholarship Projects for Undergraduate Researchers (SPUR) project in the summer after my second year. I got the opportunity to take the project beyond the ten weeks I was employed for and also had the chance to present our findings at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research as well as the annual British Psychological Society conference, which was both exciting and scary. I found this experience eye opening and, combined with studying psychology, it has confirmed my passion for research. I hope to one day go into the field myself, and my first step will be to apply for the MSc Psychological Research Methods course here at NTU.
“Nottingham is a wonderful student city – the people here are friendly and there’s so much to do in your down time. I particularly enjoy visiting the Playhouse when they put on their ‘Pay What You Can’ performances.
“My advice to anyone thinking of studying here is, “do it”. The courses offered here are interesting and engaging, and the staff are wonderful and supportive. I could not have asked for a better three years.”
