More about Kathryn
"I chose to come to Nottingham Trent University because I had visited Nottingham before and fell in love with the City. I came to a few Open Days and the University exceeded all my expectations. I was so nervous, but everyone from the student ambassadors to the lecturers were so welcoming.
"The best aspect of studying here is that you feel a part of a community. The support I have received from the School of Social Sciences staff has been phenomenal. There is much support for the academic side of studying, but also our well-being is also supported.
"Nottingham is an amazing City, there is always something going on! The City is so cultured, and there is so much to see and do.
"The course is brilliant, everyone is friendly and there's a great community. The course has allowed me to push myself to achieve my goals and taught me so much. All the modules have been interesting, especially 'Managing in Health and Social Care' and 'Research in Health and Social Care'. All the modules have taught me a range of transferable skills which will support me in my further studies and employment.
"The course has a range of assessment methods ranging from essays, reflections and presentations. The presentations really helped my confidence with public speaking.
"Since joining the course, I have been the Academic Course Representative, a role I believe has allowed me to feel a part of a community of staff and students and has enabled me to speak with all the other students on the course.
"There is always support available when needed, especially for academic and well-being support. There is always someone within the School who will listen and point me in the right direction. The School also provides drop-in sessions for this which are extremely valuable.
"The course has really influenced my future careers aspirations. I have recently been accepted to study on the MA Public Health course, something which has being possible because of this course and the influence the modules have had on me. This course has inspired me to ensure individuals are offered and provided with the best possible care. I have been able to incorporate the skills and knowledge from this course into my role as a Mental Health Support Worker. I want to make a real difference to people’s lives and I believe this course has fully supported me to make this achievable.
"Make the most of all the opportunities the School offers and don’t be nervous to take them up! Use all the resources and facilities available. Tell the staff your careers goals and they will do all they can to support you to achieve it! If you are thinking about joining NTU, it will be best decision you will make."
