More about Oliver
“I studied my undergraduate degree here in Psychology and was really impressed with the lecturers, the quality of the postgraduate course and the university as a whole. My course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), which means the course counts as Stage 1 of my training to be a Forensic Psychologist. The BPS accreditation was key for the course; I knew that it has a good reputation in the industry and the lecturers are leading in their field and the links my course has with establishments stood out to me. While I didn’t apply for anywhere else, I did research other universities but I had my heart set on Trent from the beginning.
“Every module is tailored to best equip me for a future career in Forensic Psychology. Group presentations have been important in the course along with assessments which are in a similar style to professional documents I will be completing in my future career. This course is vital for my career as a Forensic Psychologist and it is specifically designed to aid students in the Stage 2 training. I am planning on getting a job working with offenders after I have finished my course and then starting my Stage 2 training when I have built up enough experience.
“All my lectures are based in Chaucer and it has a good amount of computers and group workspace to allow me to work in-between lectures. The 24 hour library access was crucial during my undergraduate degree as well as my postgraduate course. NOW is a lifeline for the course. All lecture slides are placed online before the lecture, so you can print out the slides and make notes as the lecturer is talking. I access NOW every day and couldn’t imagine studying without it!
“I enjoy living in Nottingham as it offers a huge variety of pubs, clubs and entertainment venues. Being so close to the city centre, everything in the city is easily accessible and allows you to meet up with friends for lunch outside the university.
“I have been at NTU for 4 years now and I have loved every minute of it! I have been on the committee of the NTU Mountaineering society, experienced the pubs and clubs, and of course Varsity. I love Nottingham as a city and my course has been exactly what I expected. The lecturers are extremely supportive and will make time to see you and help you if you are struggling. I’m loving every minute of it!”
