More about Rachel
I’m from Singapore and before coming to the UK I was a psychology diploma student at Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS). It was here that I was introduced to NTU, by my overseas coordinator who helped me through the process of applying. I enjoy experiencing new cultures and I learnt that the UK has really great psychology courses.
The psychology course teaches a broad range of topics. I particularly enjoyed research methods. It’s good to have some practice for report-writing. The course has taught me a lot so far, and I have no doubt I will enjoy my last year too. I plan to find work in London after I graduate. I am leaning towards the early years development field.
I chose NTU as it was friendly budget-wise, but also because Nottingham seemed like a great student town. When I go home I actually miss the UK weather! It may be gloomy here but it certainly has its nice days.
The university and where I live is in walking distance to the city centre and entertainment. The train station is also conveniently close. When I started I attended welcome week and made friends with fellow classmates. It is very easy here as NTU is full of opportunities to meet people! I’ve always been culture-curious, and moving here has definitely raised my cultural-awareness. You just have to be yourself and don’t be shy. Sometimes you just have to be brave and say hi, for a friendship to start.
