More about Ryan
"Before studying my masters at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) I completed a BSc undergraduate degree at Derby University. I was aware that NTU was a good university with a teaching focus and a well-established Psychology department, with a range of expertise. This made it the ideal place to develop my research skills and knowledge base.
"The enthusiasm of the staff at NTU was second to none which made me want to study on the course. The course also has a good mix of researchers and practitioners, with two clinical psychologists taking lectures and workshops, that taught first-hand what working with people with mental health issues really involves.
"NTU's city centre site was also a big selling point as I commuted into the University, so being able to hop off the bus and get to my lectures was a big bonus. It also helped that the library was only across the road and that the city centre was only a short walk away, which made the student experience much more enjoyable.
"The NOW system ran by NTU provided key materials and updates for workshop and lecture sessions. It also allowed access to the online library which was crucial during assignments. It was great to have a really convenient system that facilitated all my research, communication and assignment needs in one place.
"My greatest achievement during my time at NTU was graduating with a distinction. Since graduating from NTU I have continued my academic studies and I am now completing my PhD at the University of Derby, where I have successfully obtained a full PhD studentship. I believe that the MSc Psychological Well-Being and Mental Health at NTU helped me to successfully attain my full PhD studentship, as the skills I learned while studying at NTU gave me the edge over others.
"When considering my future career the help that the staff at NTU provided was second to none. My supervisor guided me when I was deciding my next steps and was always there to answer questions and talk things over."
