FAQs about accommodation

NTU accommodation seems full

If our University-owned halls are full, don't worry! We also have rooms available with selected private accommodation providers.

Our Accommodation team can help find a new home, whether it's in:

  • University-owned halls of residence
  • halls of residence run by our partner providers or private companies
  • accredited shared housing.

Is there a waiting list for accommodation?

The University doesn’t keep a waiting list. We only get a small number of cancellations and operating a waiting list gives students false hope and may deter them from securing other accommodation.

There are two ways to check if we have had any cancellations in your preferred halls of residence:

  1. If you haven’t yet booked accommodation, log in to our online booking system.
  2. If you’ve already secured accommodation, call us on +44 (0)115 848 2894.

Moving in

When you can move in

You can move into your accommodation from September. We send detailed arrival information by email when you complete your booking, and details are published online in the weeks before arrival.

We will keep you updated by email with the latest information.

Courses starting before accommodation is available

Early access to accommodation can be arranged by emailing our Accommodation team or by calling +44 (0)115 848 2894. Please note that you will be charged for additional nights at a standard rate.

What happens if you defer

This depends on the accommodation provider.

If accommodation is booked through University-owned accommodation and you choose to cancel accommodation before the deadline – which is 21 days before their contract starts – you're eligible for a refund. If you have booked with a private provider, you should check their terms and conditions.
