For NTU students and offer holders
Find out registration and fee information based on the course you're studying and what type of student you are.
Accredited students

Accredited NTU students are taking a language course as part of their degree, for example BA (Hons) International Business (with German). This information also applies to exchange students studying an accredited course.
Registration
Classes start in October each year, with registration for courses starting in October 2024 opening in late summer.
Some accredited students in the School of Arts and Humanities, and on the BA (Hons) International Business courses have already pre-registered for a language module and this will automatically go onto their timetable.
The process will vary depending on your Academic School. Please check with your degree course administrator if you’re unsure.
There is no additional fee to pay, as your modules are included in your course fees.
Supplementary students

Supplementary students can study a language in addition to their degree.
Fees
As an NTU student, you can learn a language for free. You'll pay a deposit when you register, but this will be refunded when you successfully complete the module.
The deposit for 2024 will be confirmed in late summer. In October 2023, the deposit was:
- £200 for full-year students
- £140 for half-year students (first semester only).
The same fees will apply to exchange students who are studying a degree that doesn't already include a language.
Please read the full terms and conditions of our refund policy.
You can register and pay for a language module through the ULP Online Store from X DATE.
FAQs for supplementary students
If you withdraw within three weeks of the course start date you’ll receive a refund minus £60.00. If you withdraw after this you won’t receive a refund.
Please note that the course start date is the date of the first class of the course, not the date you registered. This means that if the first class was on 2 October the last date when you could withdraw and have a refund would be 22 October.
These dates would be the same if you registered and attended your first class on 15 October. Your deadline for withdrawal with a refund would still be 22 October.
All payments must be made by via the online store when you register. We’re unable to accept cash, cheque, or telephone payments.
No, the full fee is payable when you register.
No. You must pay the full fee before you attend the class. However we offer taster classes during NTU welcome week. Please visit the NTU Welcome Week website in late Summer for more details.
The entry levels for each stage are available on our web pages. If you are still unsure, please complete the ULP Registration Enquiry Form and we’ll advise you.
Assessments form part of the course. If you don’t wish to take them you can still take the course, but it will mean that there won’t be any record of your results, you won’t receive any certification and you won’t be permitted to move to the next stage. We recommend that you complete the assessments as a way of measuring your progress.
