Cell Biology, MRes
Welcome to your new course and your new life as an NTU student. We've gathered together all the things you'll need to know to help you settle in here – have a read through and start thinking about how you're going to engage with your subject.
Welcome from the team
We really hope you are excited to be starting your MRes Cell Biology course with us. You’ll soon be meeting lots of interesting people and come across new research ideas. It’s understandable if you are a bit nervous as well, but we are a friendly team and there is always someone around to offer support. We look forward to meeting your during your course induction, but in the meantime, in case you need to contact us, see below our details:
Course leader: Dr Cristina Montiel-Duarte – firstname.lastname@example.org
Course Admin: Ms Liz Martin and Ms Trudy Tuffin - email@example.com
You are soon going to start your MRes course, where you will dedicate a substantial part of your time to your project. You will develop a deep understanding of your topic, but, as essential as that, you will have to (learn to) communicate your research findings. And the pre-arrival activity that we have in mind for you will hopefully help you do just that.
We would like you to read the information in the ‘Scientific Communication Topic Room’ from Nature Education (Scientific Communication | Learn Science at Scitable (nature.com)). There are different sections within this Topic Room and we would like you to focus on the following ones: Communicating as a Scientist; Papers; Presentations; and Poster Presentations.
Link to induction or later course activities
This activity will be a good introduction for writing your thesis and presenting your research, which you will have to do during your course. We will guide you, but the more familiar you get with this, the better you will perform later.
