Pre-arrival activities

Purpose

The aim of this activity is to introduce you to review articles as a valuable resource in supporting your learning on the course, and to assist you in developing good writing practice, as well as help to guide you in how to avoid plagiarism

Activity

Before arriving at Nottingham Trent University, we would like you to read the review article below, which deals with the topic of protein engineering for the design of tailored enzymes and microbes. The review article has been chosen because of its relevance to your course and is available free on the internet. Once you have read the review, write a 1,000-word summary of the review in your own words without using the abstract.

You can use resources such as Pubmed to identify related articles to help with your understanding.

Protein engineering in designing tailored enzymes and microorganisms for biofuels production.

The review article can be found at this location: Current Opinion in Biotechnology, 2009, 20(4): 412–419.

You will be instructed how to submit this work during induction week
