Celebrate NTU’s rich cultural community with Global Week 2021

Global Week 2021 is taking place from 26 – 30 April and is open to all NTU students and colleagues.

The virtual celebration will include an exhibition of cultural presentations and videos covering cuisine, music, art, literature and much more submitted by students and colleagues. There will also be a range of live activities to take part in throughout the week including discussions about culture to virtual cook-along sessions, sessions on different global issues, information sessions about international opportunities and global experiences. Plus, there’ll be music workshops, wellbeing activities, alumni networking sessions and so much more. Some of the events even count towards the Global Employability Award.

There will also be fun competitions for you to take part in each day. Some events are bookable, but you can join others on the day. Take a look at some of the events on offer below:

Telling the story of NTU's Peregrine Falcons

Monday 26 April, 11 am – 11.45 am

Join us as we reflect on the Peregrine journey thus far, with special guest, Erin McDaid, Head of Communications with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, who will give an insight into the high and lows experienced during a decade of handling publicity and social media engagement linked to the peregrine nest perched high on the Newton Building.

Global Week Employability quiz

Monday 26 April, 1 pm – 1.30 pm

Join the NTU Employability team for their annual Global Week quiz and be in with the chance to win some great prizes including an NTU hoodie and £30 Amazon vouchers! This years quiz is taking place digitally on Kahoot and is sure to be a popular event so book your place now.

Global Week networking with NTU alumni

Monday 26 April, 5 pm – 6.30 pm

Joining in this event will be experienced professionals who graduated from subjects across NTU. All of them have experience of working internationally in their careers and will be able to talk about their experiences and try to answer your questions in short, ten-minute speed networking slots with small groups of students. Get thinking about what questions you’d like to ask and book your place at the event. Spaces are limited!

Monday 26 and Wednesday 28 April, 2 pm – 3.30 pm

Environmental Justice: Green Spaces as a Human Right

Thursday 29 and Friday 30 April, 2 pm – 3.30 pm

Fairtrade and the climate crisis

Tuesday 27 April, 2.30 pm – 3.30 pm

Join this session to find out more about climate crisis and how it affects the agricultural practices. You can also find out more about how the choices we make can have an impact across the globe. There are limited places available for this event so book now.

NTU Music Gospel Workshop

Wednesday 28 April, 5 pm – 6 pm

Join award-winning British gospel artist Freddie Kofi for a free gospel choir workshop, open to all students and staff. Part of Global Week, this event will introduce you to new singing techniques through traditional and contemporary gospel music.
