Decolonisation: finding those hidden voices
Published: 16/05/2023
Decolonisation is a term that’s being used a lot within higher education at the moment.

Essentially, this means being aware of how the history of colonialism has affected the University and making an effort to include different perspectives beyond the usual Euro-American ones.
So what does this mean for you? When you're doing your research, we want you to be able to use research materials and include evidence from a diverse range of authors who offer alternative viewpoints.
To help you with this, the library has created a new web page called 'supporting curricula decolonisation'. Here you'll find articles, podcasts, videos, and other resources that give an overview of decolonisation. We've also put together discipline-specific resource lists so you can find those hidden voices within your field of study.
Last term, the library ran the 'Hidden Voices' campaign where we asked you for suggestions to help us find those hidden voices in your subject areas. The results have been collated in Library OneSearch and can also be accessed through our new web page. As it was such a success, we're planning on running it again in January 2024 so look out for more details coming in the new term.
