We reflect on a fantastic decade of growing our global community at NTU.
About the Global Lounges
Our two Global Lounges, located at City and Clifton campuses, were set up in 2013 and have been providing opportunities for all NTU, NTIC and Confetti students to internationalise their student experience ever since.
They are more popular than ever, with over 14,000 visitors last academic year.
The lounges are multifunctional hubs where students can relax and make friends from around the world, organise and take part in student-focused cultural events, and find out about international opportunities both on and off-campus, such as studying abroad.
The Global Lounge to me means community and friendship. It is an open space without bias that makes being an international student a little less lonely. I truly enjoy being here.

The lounges run regular cultural, social and educational events, including the weekly Language Cafés, global community lunches and wellbeing crafting sessions. They also host monthly cross-cultural skills training and termly sessions on global issues and international Alumni Fellows talks.
The work of the lounges is award-winning, achieving two NUS-UKCISA 2016 awards for innovation in internationalising the student experience and excellence in international student support in higher education. They have also contributed to NTU winning first place in the WhatUni? Student Choice Awards in 2016 and 2022 for Best UK University for International Students.
The global lounge is a safe space on campus. It has been a place where I have made amazing friends and it has given me the opportunity to experience parts of the world I never would have otherwise.

Don't miss our 10-year celebrations at the City Global Lounge on Tuesday 21 November and the Clifton Global Lounge on Wednesday 22 November.
All students are welcome to come along and join in the birthday fun – get ready for some exciting activities and don't forget to join our social media competition for a chance to win amazing prizes.

Global Week
The Global Lounges organise NTU’s annual Global Week event, where students and colleagues come together to celebrate the amazing cultural diversity within the NTU community.
The next Global Week will be held from Monday 26 February to Friday 1 March 2024 and will also mark the event's 10-year anniversary.
We're inviting all NTU and Confetti students to participate. We want you to showcase your culture or highlight a global issue that you are passionate about, such as climate change, migration or plastic waste. Dance, food, performance or art – however you choose to get involved, we'd love for as many students as possible join us.
