Road closure affecting evening access to Clifton Campus

Published: 05/04/2024

National Highways have started works upgrading the current lighting to LEDs on the A453 between Mill Hill roundabout and Clifton Lane.

From Tuesday 2 April for approximately three weeks, they are working overnight from 8 pm through to 6 am, Monday to Friday.

Specifically, the section of road highlighted below will be closed between 8 pm–6 am, from 4–11 April.

Access to Clifton Campus

If you need to access Clifton Campus between the hours of 8 pm–6 am, please use this guidance:

By car

National Highways will need to stop works whilst a car is travelling on the road. This may take 10–20 minutes for them to stop and allow cars through.

All students will need to bring NTU ID with them in the car and ask the road workers to be allowed onto the closed road for access to the campus.

Please allow an extra half hour onto your journey time to allow for the additional time waiting for the roadworks to pause whilst you travel on this part of the road.

By bus

From 8 pm–6 am on 4–11 April, NCT buses will not be able to stop at NTU Clifton Campus.

  • If you travel to Clifton using the South Notts 1, this will divert through Clifton via Farnborough Road and Southchurch Drive. This bus will not stop at NTU Clifton Campus, Crusader or The Dip.
  • For those that use the N4, the service to Clifton Campus from City Centre will terminate at Fabis Drive. This stop is a 15 minute walk to the campus.
  • For the 4, the service to Clifton Campus from City Centre will terminate at The Dip (stop CL86) and will return via Farnborough Road and Southchurch Drive.

Please consider your safety when travelling. See our student safety advice on StudentHub.
