National Care Leavers' Month 2026

Published: 02/11/2026

This week marks the start of National Care Leavers Month.

How do we support care leavers at NTU?

Did you know that NTU has one of the largest student populations with experience in the care system?

In November, we will be celebrating these students and raising awareness among staff and students about what it means to be care-experienced and the support on offer to the care-experienced community at NTU.

As part of our celebrations for NCLM, we are pleased to announce that applications for our Care Experienced and Estranged Students (CEES) Ambassador role are now open. This is a paid role for students interested in supporting outreach events and helping to shape our support for CEES students at NTU. Students who identify as care-experienced or estranged and wish to request more information about the role and how to apply can do so using this form by Monday 30 November at 12 pm.

Care Experienced and Estranged Students Social Events

If you identify as care experienced or estranged, you are welcome to join our social events for students to connect, taking place throughout the year. Our next event is an end-of-term festive social with free pizza and games. To register your interest in attending, fill out this form.

If you would like more information on National Care Leavers’ Month, our CEES Ambassador role, other additional opportunities, or any of our support for care-experienced students, please email Kathryn Gardiner.
