The White Rose x NTU Professional Student Wardrobe is here to help.

It's open Monday – Friday between 11 am – 3 pm and situated just behind the Employability Hub in Newton on the City Campus. Here you can speak to one of our fashion advisers who can help you find just the right look for your recruitment activity. There is no charge and any student or recent graduate can access the wardrobe.

How does it work

The Professional Student Wardrobe is available to all students and graduates. Simply come along to Newton with your student card (or student ID number with additional photo ID if you are a graduate) and browse the items available. You can take up to two* items over the year – no catch or cost – all we ask is a few questions.

Our fashion advisers are there to offer their guidance if you aren’t too sure what you’re looking for or want some advice on putting together an outfit. They can also refer you on to additional support with your application or interview preparation.

Due to demands on the Wardrobe, there is currently a limit of up to two items per academic year. However, we know that some of you may wish to collect further items to expand your professional wardrobe.

To gain further items (a maximum of five), you must:

  • have been connected with Employability within the last two months through a Hub visit, workshop, or event
  • have been referred through a 1-2-1 Employability appointment with a member of our team
  • be able to show evidence of an upcoming employment activity.

Alternatively, you can take part in our Swap Shop! Simply bring in an item of clothing you wish to donate and swap it for a new item from the Wardrobe. We will accept all items of clothing that are in good reusable, clean condition (no rips, tears or stains). These items can be casual or professional items, so it's a great excuse to get rid of those worn-once Ocean costumes or clothes you'll never wear again.

Will there be a variety of sizes and items?

Yes! We’re aiming to ensure that all shapes and sizes are catered for at the Wardrobe and are working closely with White Rose to ensure a constant supply of stock. As the stock we receive is from donations, there may be times when sizes or items are not available. As with any other charity shop, we recommend coming by regularly to check out items.

We will have a range of items covering female, male and gender-neutral clothing options and a range of accessories for you to choose from.

Can I donate items?

Yes, you can! We’ll be locating donation boxes on all our campuses for you to donate your pre-loved items. White Rose are looking for donations of clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery and accessories. Brand-new items of underwear and pyjamas are also accepted.

White Rose collects and sort through all donations, with items provided for the Professional Wardrobe as well as being distributed to their network of shops.

Who are White Rose and the Aegis Trust?

White Rose Recycled Fashion was established as a social enterprise in 2009 by two creative Nottingham Trent University graduates who were truly inspired by the work of Aegis Trust.

White Rose, a charity shop with a difference, offers lovingly hand-picked recycled clothes; men’s, women’s, and children's recycled fashion. It values people, our planet and clothing, in a manner reflective of the organisational values.

Why did you set this up?

We set up the Professional Student Wardrobe in response to student feedback on the spiraling costs of professional workwear and the difficulties in accessing this. We are also conscious that cheaper options available are also contributing to fast fashion, one of the biggest factors contributing to climate change. That’s why we decided to partner with White Rose to set up the Professional Student Wardrobe; we’re helping to support our students and graduates during a precarious economic and environmental situation to make sustainable choices.
