International Student Exchange Programme (ISEP)

ISEP offers study abroad options in over 50 countries, with a strong university network in North America.

What is ISEP

ISEP is an external study abroad provider, offering alternative study destinations in over 50 countries worldwide. It has a particularly extensive network of universities and colleges in North America, making it a popular study abroad route for students interested in studying in the United States.

Go abroad through ISEP vs NTU partner institution

ISEP offers a broader selection of study abroad destinations, and you can list up to 10 choices on your application form. You’ll also have dedicated ISEP advisors to guide you through the process.

Unlike NTU partner universities, the ISEP fee covers both accommodation and meals, although students are required to pay an additional acceptance and placement fee. More information on costs can be found below under Programme Fees.

Who can apply

ISEP is open to students who wish to study abroad as part of their placement or sandwich year. It may not be available for all courses, so it’s important to contact your exchange coordinator to check if ISEP is compatible with your course.

Where can I go

ISEP has study programmes available throughout North America, Latin America, and Asia. There are also limited opportunities in the UAE, Australia, and New Zealand. ISEP is particularly recommended for students wishing to study in the U.S. Past student destinations have included:

  • San Diego State University, USA
  • Louisiana State University, USA
  • Colorado Mesa University, USA
  • Ewha Woman’s University, South Korea
  • Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile

Visit ISEP Study Abroad to see which ISEP destinations might be available for your course.

Programme fees

You are required to pay the ISEP fees to NTU. This fee covers your accommodation and meals at your ISEP placement university. This fee is set annually based on the cost of living and accommodation at NTU. You will not pay the host institution directly for accommodation or meals.

In addition, students must pay an application fee, acceptance fee, and monthly health insurance. Please email us at goabroad@ntu.ac.uk or visit Go Abroad at NTU Global Microsoft Teams for more information.

How to apply

We offer a limited number of ISEP places each academic year, so you must first complete an internal application via our online portal, Mobility Online. The second application window for 2025/26 will be open from 31 Oct 2025 to 23 January 2026.

If your application is approved by your department, we will send you a link to complete the external ISEP application. You can select up to 10 study abroad choices, so it’s important to research your options before submitting your application.
